Program DescriptionNurses have a crucial role in assisted living communities. They are responsible for conducting clinical assessments of residents’ health status, as well as observing and reporting any changes in residents’ health or care plans to their family members. As we all know, all assisted living communities must meet certain requirements and comply with Rhode Island state regulations to operate; therefore, it is vital that all nurses receive training on assisted living regulations, operation as well as substance abuse among older adults. According to the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 10.7% of seniors reported binge drinking, 2.5% of seniors reported heavy alcohol use, 1.6% of seniors reported having an alcohol abuse disorder, 1.3% of seniors reported misuse of opioids, 0.5% of seniors reported misuse of tranquilizers, 0.4% of seniors reported misuse of benzodiazepines, and 0.2% of seniors reported misuse of sedatives. This training program aims to provide nurses with in-depth knowledge of RI assisted living regulations and requirements. Program trainers will share tools and best practices in resident care, as well as discuss ways to identify and address substance abuse in residents, thereby improving residents’ satisfaction in our assisted living communities. Whether you're an experienced nurse or new to the industry, this training is essential for your success. Learning ObjectivesUpon completion, attendees will be able to:
