Program Description

Nurses play a pivotal role in ensuring the health and well-being of residents within assisted living communities. This responsibility includes clinical assessments, monitoring health changes, and adhering to Rhode Island state regulations that govern these facilities. Additionally, addressing substance abuse among older adults is increasingly critical, given the prevalence of misuse within this demographic. This program aims to equip nurses with specialized knowledge essential for their roles in assisted living settings, including regulatory knowledge of the RI assisted living regulations and operational requirements, and best practices in resident care. And substance abuse identification and intervention.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, attendees will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the regulations and requirements for nursing in Assisted Living residences.
  • Utilize the provided tools and training to implement best practices in resident care, focusing on enhancing resident satisfaction.
  • Accurately identify signs of substance abuse in residents.
  • Effectively offer and facilitate access to appropriate resources and support services for residents struggling with substance abuse.
